i think it’s just time to admit that these romance books are not for me?! i vibe for the first like half but then once then the sex scenes come and i’m over. i guess i like the flirting lolol
but it was the orgasm right as they scored a touchdown and the line “i ate her p*ssy like it was a four-course meal this time” that icked me out

A quick, fun listen. Romance and depth … and football! Enjoyed it!
Ahhhh. So good.
This book knocked me down and helped rebuild me after shattering all my emotions. Zach and Gemma both endured so much to try to find happiness. I loved them and their story.

The Wrong Game was such a delightful feel good read—equal parts hilarious, heartwarming, and emotionally satisfying. This story had me grinning, tearing up, and fully invested from beginning to end. Totally bingeable from the first page to the last. Gemma and Zach were a perfect match, and their journey was as swoony as it was fun.
Gemma is the kind of woman who thrives on structure. She makes lists, sets rules, and doesn’t stray from the path she’s carefully planned—especially after the heartbreak she’s been through. She’s built emotional walls that feel unshakable. One of those walls? No relationships.
Enter her reluctant football-season dating plan: with her season tickets to the Chicago Bears in hand, Gemma’s bestie talks her into bringing a different date to each game—no strings, no feelings, just fun. Her first date is of course Zach. Charming and easygoing, he’s the perfect first date. But things get complicated because of the chemistry. Turns out Zach is not a one-and-done kind of guy when it comes to Gemma. He quickly sees past her rules and walls and her reluctance, and he’s determined to get to know the woman beneath the protective emotional armor.
What follows is a slow unraveling of both their hearts, full of snarky banter, electric chemistry, and that Kandi Steiner sneaks-up-on-you emotional depth. Zach is super swoony- one of my favorite Kandi heroes of all time. He’s the perfect blend of persistent and respectful, playful and sincere. Meanwhile, Gemma is strong, guarded, and refreshingly relatable. I loved them as characters, and I loved them together.
Kandi never fails to wow me with her chemistry writing. The dynamic here is addictive. Sharp, sexy, and filled with those tiny moments that make a love story meaningful. The side characters were fantastic too—Belle, Gemma’s best friend, had me laughing out loud, and Zach’s brother Micah added a fun, chaotic energy that balanced the story beautifully.
Overall, a funny, sexy, emotional, and a bit angsty (it is Kandi) love story, all wrapped in a cozy fall setting that brought all the dreamy vibes. If you’re a fan of sports romance, slow-burn chemistry, and stories where opposites pull each other closer and magnify the best in each other, this one is a treat.

4⭐️ This book was a fun strangers to lovers. She has season tickets to football games and decides she is going to take different dates to each game. She is discussing this when the bartender where she is at overhears and he offers to be her trial date. After he wants to continue but she doesn’t. This book has jealousy and I loved it. It was a fun read revolves around football without being a sports romance.
“Failed love built walls, but it was our choice whether we decided to hide behind them, or sit on top of them, waiting for someone to come along who could knock them down.”
Kandi Steiner is exceeding my expectations with each new book she releases. Before she released her What He Doesn’t Know duet, I had heard of her but hadn’t had the pleasure of reading her work. Now I grab it ALL up as quickly as I can get my hands on it. The Wrong Game was sooo incredible—honestly, I loved everything about the book. Kandi Steiner is a talented storyteller and I think she appeals to the masses since she writes a variety of tropes/subgenres. I am beyond impressed with her creativity and it seems like she’s the type of author who puts her heart and soul into all of her stories. I love that her books are so well edited, both the storylines and the characters are well developed and that they evoke a range of emotions. It makes it so easy to just get lost within the pages of an amazing book. All of this is true of The Wrong Game. Also, I loved this cover as it was perfect for the story and really spoke to the characters themselves. The Wrong Game is written in duel POV so prepare to really get into the minds of Zack and Gemma—the good, bad and everything in between is all fair game! Gemma has been badly hurt in her past but so has Zack. The difference is that Zack is prepared to open up to Gemma and wants far more than the practice date she agreed to when they first met. The chemistry between the pair is off. the. charts! The Wrong Game is super sexy but it’s also sweet and witty. This story is absorbing, and I honestly was unable to put my book down from the very start. The more I read, the more I wanted to devour every page until the end came and then I could have picked it up and started rereading it again as it was just that spectacular. I can tell you without a doubt that you shouldn’t miss this book. The Wrong Game is worth locking yourself away from your kids or spouses and just consuming the book in one sitting. And if it’s the first book you read of Kandi Steiner, then I daresay that this second chance romance will definitely have you one-clicking everything in her catalog cause one book is never enough when it comes to Kandi Steiner’s considerable talents!
“She was like a Rubik’s Cure in a blind man’s hand—impossible to figure out. And yet, I was the blind man determined to try.”

I am OBSESSED with this book! Kandi's writing is phenomenal like always but there was just something about this one that pushed it forward for me. I loved the whitty banter and how realistic the characters seemed through the entirety of the book. Before this, I never gave sports romance books much thought, but this one definitely changed that for me!
Gemma is a woman with a tragic past who has been ultimately betrayed. She does whatever she can to keep from getting hurt again, including the set of rules she keeps in place when it comes to dating. Being a major Bears fan, she's looking for someone temporary to fill the stadium seat next to her.
Zach is a sexy bartender that came out of no where. He made her second guess everything and smashed through every wall Gemma thought she built. He might be a Bears fan too but he wants to fill the stadium seat next to Gemma for longer than either of them anticipated.
The two of them have some major tension and chemistry so it's no surprise that their spicy scenes are perfection! I loved Zach as a whole but at times, I wasn't a fan of Gemma. I know her past had alot to do with why she pushed him away so often but I wish she self-sabotaged less.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a contemporary/sports romance.
