This one was such a cute story!! When it said sports romance I thought it was going to be your typical football player and his love interest but I loved the story line and how it was different! There wasn’t a solid plot but the story was still really good. I felt for both the characters. I loved the idea that they were both scared to get hurt again but beat the odds lol. I get Gemma’s reasoning but towards the end she was making me mad even after he was literally making sense but I get it. Zach is legit swoon worthy I mean like the perfect boyfriend. He cared so much about Gemma and legit turned her life around

This was a fun and emotional read. It was a great listen on audible too. I really enjoy Kandi Steiner’s writing.

I really enjoyed the premise of the book—Gemma taking a different guy to each game—and how that quickly changed when she met Zach. I loved Zach, he was so sweet and completely gone for Gemma after their first meeting. He was determined to break through her barriers!

I really disliked the third act breakup.
I could understand why she acted the way she did if she’d just found out about her husband’s cheating, but she’d known about it before she even met Zach. So pushing him away just felt stupid to me🤷🏼‍♀️

I did enjoy Zach’s big grand gesture at the end though, it was so cute!

Ugh some people can really do a number on others. Gemma catches her husband cheating on her but before she can confront him and leave, he reveals that he has terminal cancer. She decides that she will see him through the cancer and not say a word about the affair. Once he is gone, she decides she will not ever fall in love again. She had purchased season tickets to Soldier Field before finding out about the affair and her best friends decides she should use them as a way to meet men and potentially hook up since she does not want to find love.
Enter Zach. He's a bartender whose let his dreams go to support his family. The sparks fly immediately and as he pushes her for more than one football game, they clash.
It was a quick read and the characters were interesting.

4.5 stars
I somehow missed The Wrong Game when it came out in late 2018, but I did read Kandi Steiner's The Right Player (and loved it!) and immediately put it's predecessor on my TBR. I devoured it on a plane ride and enjoyed it so much. Although the prologue set up quite and angsty situation for the heroine, the book had so many light, funny moments that had me smiling big. Zach was such a great guy and seeing him pull Gemma out of her comfort zone was magic. He also had quite a way with words.

"I love it when you do that," he whispered.
"Do what?"
"Exist."

Swoon! Their chemistry was so apparent, and I loved the premise of football game dates. It was a refreshing change to see a sports romance book involve fans rather than a player.
