The Wrong Game was the book I didn’t even know I needed. I associated with the FMC, Gemma on a deep level. Gemma has OCD tendencies and anxiety. She made lists and plans all to stay in control of her life. There is something truly special when an author’s words speak to you on a level that you know intimately. A connection not only to the book but the meaning of the story - because they “get it”.
If the story went according to Gemma’s plans. I wouldn’t even be typing out this review. She was afraid of the unknown, and rightfully so - her trust in relationships was destroyed. Thankfully the MMC, Zach and Gemma’s spitfire of a bff Belle helped to shape this love story into what it was. A story that was meant to be, a lesson in letting go, and trusting the ability to fall in love again.
What started as an “experiment” changed plans and became everything both Gemma and Zach needed. A relationship that provided healing to both of them. This story is such a good reminder that changing one’s course or plans isn’t necessarily a bad thing. When you make yourself vulnerable magical things can happen.

Damn did I like this one!!! Don’t get me wrong, it hurt like hell to read about Gemma’s struggles. But the way Zach was everything?!?!?!
Might’ve been a smidge to insta lovey for my taste, but the fact that it took them a while to actually confess made it okay.
And Belle… to have a friend like her! Who loves you endlessly and pushes you out of your comfort zone (in questionable ways) THE WORLD NEEDS MORE BESTIES LIKE HER!!!!!!

Everyone needs therapy. Good grief.
This was a great take on both widows and the wronged spouse - a strong and solid choice not to deify the dead.
Also good to have a lead not all bogged down in toxic masculinity.

Gemma and Zach
Well that prologue was sure full of surprises.
Gemma was pretty mean to Zach after the first game and I wasn’t sure I was going to like her. Also, the fact that she refused to even consider seeing a therapist after everything she went through was annoying.
She grew on me a little and I did love them as a couple, mostly because Zach was practically perfect.
When I say I gasped out loud when she read the letters, I mean GASPED!
Sex scenes were pretty dang good! 4🔥
