I read this book because of a TikTok that Kandi Steiner made. I knew the bare minimum about the book but I absolutely loved it! I thoroughly enjoyed the idea of taking a new date to every home football game but found myself laughing so hard at Zach's antics trying to get his second date.
There were some scenes that were very heavy on football play-by-plays which was somewhat boring for me (someone who doesn't know / understand American football). But I loved the fans' enthusiasm for the Bears & gave me a little taste of the sports environment in my hometown.

i liked this for the most part. it was cute and zach is probably one of my favorite male characters ever written, as he was pretty unique compared to the ones i've read so far. he showed every emotion, perseverance, sorrow, and happiness. i thought it could have gone much further into the healing aspects for gemma than it did. also, the marriage proposal at the end didn't fit the character i read about - gemma wouldn't have been ready to jump back into a marriage so quickly? she told him she needed to take it slow. it just didn't really make sense. all in all, though, a really sweet read.

"The Wrong Game" has a permanent spot in my heart.
From the moment I read the words "Bears" and "Soldier Field," I knew I had to take advantage and download it to my kindle! This was the perfect read for this current Bears season and it transported me back to 2018 when the Bears were looking promising. It brought back the excitement of being a fan and looking forward to each game and I have to admit reading them beat the Packers twice warmed my soul. This was honestly what I've been looking for in a sports romance- two hard-not-to-love characters, humor, my team winning, and the perfect happy ever after.
I couldn't fall more in love with Gemma as she's a perfect character- genuinely loves football and hates Chicago style hot dog. Admittedly there were times where she'd annoy the hell out of me with the constant push and pull, but I also loved that about her. While I'm the complete opposite of her I understood why her brain works the way it does. She'd experience such a tragedy without letting herself really mourn and push what she was really feeling down. I admired her pride even though I wanted to kick her around for some of her decisions.
Oh, Zach Bowen. Mr. "Dark, Tall, Fun" took me the instant he went into protection mode at their "practice date". It's also a big plus he's a raised feminist, the way his character was written was quite unique to those I've read. Most wrote their men as macho as hell and refused to show emotions until the end, but Zach was different. He showed every emotion, perseverance, sorrow, and happiness.
I enjoyed the back and forth between their pov's. Another big plus of mine! I was able to read this within a day and I wished I had taken a bit slower, so I can experience every feeling a little while longer.
