Of course the book that gets me all caught up is the one whose cliffhanger kills me the most. Alright. I get it.

Note to authors: When you're writing a series, leave your readers wanting more. End on a high note. Don't drag things out until readers hate your books, but only keep reading because they've already invested SO MUCH time in the series. Your books should be getting more interesting and action packed towards the end of a series, not dragging and filled to the brim with filler.
This book could have been 200 pages instead of 800 pages, and still told the same story. This was 90% conversations, and 10% things actually happening. We had the same conversation probably 10 times. Sophie wondering if she should do something. Sandor (her bodyguard) stepping in and saying she absolutely should not. Then everyone arguing about it some more. And Sandor saying maybe they should see what her parents think. And then some adult surprising everyone by saying it's actually not a bad idea for her to do the thing. And then they debate about it some more for 50 more pages. And then she goes ahead and does the thing. I wish I was kidding. Two stars is generous for this book.
I really hope there is only one more book in the series, and the author won't decide she can actually drag this out just to make more money, even though she really doesn't have more story to tell. The start of this series had so much promise, but there is absolutely no reason this series needs to be 9 books that are 800 pages long. Middle grade readers don't have that kind of attention span.

Ok, so Shannon did amazing! ( as always ) It took me longer than usual to finish her books. ( it took about three weeks for me to finish LEGACY where I finished Flashback in less than a week ) But I believe it also took me a long time because I went to her book signing in Huston about a week ago and to me, it felt like I was done reading the book but I still had a good 80 pages left. This is the first time I had to wait for the next book and now I finally realize why they call Shannon the queen of cliffhangers!

I feel like this book was great, and I gave it 5 stars because it continued off the previous books quite well and the story of each character made me want to read even more. There were also plenty of plot twists, especially in the last 100-200 pages of the book. My only complaint is that this book had much less battles with the never seen and a lot more of just stalling. Nevertheless, this book was great in many aspects and I am very exited to begin book nine.
