Still sorting through my feelings.

i feel like the idea of this book is better than the story told. The pacing was confusing. I thought the story would be wrapped up by the end of the book and was really surprised once I got to the end. I'm curious how the second and third books are going to go. I'm not certain there is enough story for them.

On the positive side, I really liked the mythology incorporated. Meyers really did a good job on her research. It's refreshing to read a story and see mythological creatures I haven't seen before.

This book was quite good, but I do think that it would have worked better as a New Adult novel. Meyer seemed to have a hard time balancing the degree of maturity that she wanted to achieve. She would only hint at sexual themes but had no issue including some very graphic deaths. The villain is very dark, but not as effective as he could've been if the rating was bumped up and allowed for him to be even more atrocious.
I'll probably read the sequel when it comes out, because I am curious about what happens next.
