I was super into the first part of the book, but then the narration drastically changed. I didn't like the time jump and felt that there were quite a few things plot-wise that could have been done better.

The heartaches of a forbidden love story lost in time and brought back to life ~40 years later.
I think there could have been a bit more character development and perhaps the story should have started with the modern timeline rather than spending so much on the love story, then jumping ahead to the future findings of this love. A bit odd to keep up with the timelines, but over all a sweet ending.

Llegué a este libro con la necesidad de leer algo que se sintiera un poquito como un abrazo al corazón, y así fue. Aunque al principio la historia es algo lenta y Jennifer, el personaje principal, se siente vacío, conforme va avanzando la historia Moyes nos recuerda por qué es una gran narradora y cómo a través de mujeres que son todo menos perfectas o ideales se puede contar una gran historia. El protagonismo de las cartas en este libro me llegó importantemente al corazón y me hizo sentir mucha nostalgia por un medio de comunicación que creo se ha dejado de valorar mucho, pero que no por eso deja de ser hermoso. Es lindo creer que el amor entre dos personas puede trascender el tiempo y el espacio (así a veces parezca imposible en la vida real) y que las palabras y las historias tienen un poder hermoso.

I picked up this book in a charity shop as soon as I saw the trailer drop for the film that’s coming onto Netflix. I love a good forbidden romance story and the plot seemed really intriguing to me.
It’s a book as soon as you pick it up you are drawn to it straight away. The mystery of everything and the burning love that Jennifer and Anthony have for each other. But like any typical romance novel you know everything isn’t going to go smoothly and I felt at times it was so crazy some of the events I really don’t think. In real life that it would happen. I don’t want to give any sort of spoilers but I saw the writing on the wall for some of it as it was quite obvious. How many times is there going to be a spanner in the works and what is the connection to Ellie in 2003? How is it going to tie in…oh wait the penny drops and so does your heart when you realise this isn’t going to be a love story with a nice little bow on it.
I feel like this is a love story that will stick with me though. Even though I feel like Ellie in modern day her story should of been more fleshed out because you don’t really feel as emotionally attached to her and her story. I also find it confusing how her romance story is supposed to match Jennifer and Anthony’s? She’s just having sex with this married guy it isn’t exactly star-crossed Shakespearean lovers so I don’t really quite understand the connection. But it is nice as some parts of the 1960s can get pretty emotionally heavy and it’s nice to have that comforting side of modern day and that feeling that something hopeful will happen.
I think I could of read this book in one sitting it was that addictive and engrossing. Because of Jennifer’s memory loss you feel you are peeling back more and more of her life and the story. I really felt I was sitting on the edge of my seat for the whole book and I was so excited to pick it back up again. It’s not the sort of book you finish and forget about it sticks with you emotionally. At some parts especially in the middle it was a bit back and forth in the timelines which made it feel slightly inconsistent and I hope in the film they will fix that but I can’t say there was that many faults in this novel at all. It’s nice to actually read a romance where I feel so invested like Ellie even though it’s not even real you almost feel like it is. I think if any of my heart is left I’m going to have to pick up another book by JoJo Moyes.

As usual what I love about Jojo Moyes is while is there are happy events in this book, there are also very sad events andthings don't turn out entirely how you think. Though warning if you liked Me Before You, this one is much more Chick Lit.
This book took me a bit longer to get into but once I was got into it I was hooked! As usual I loves stories with two related timelines. The narrative really makes you think how different things where, in this case for women, in the not so distant 60s. It is a stark contrast from the "present" day story and even in the past things are already changing from how Jennifer was brought up to live vs how young women start living as adults in the mid 60s.
I would have liked to hear more from Laurence's point of view , about his company and the impact mesothelioma on the asbestos / mining industry but as this book is more from the female perspective so makes sense that they aren't let in on that. Even Moira who is unique in that time period as a woman who is more focused on work, still obviously isn't in on everything. Would have loved more from Moira!! She was great.
I would give this 3.5 -4 , can't decide. Overall I enjoyed it!

Read it because it isn’t about human tragedy but finding love.
In het begin vond ik het verhaal af en toe moeilijk te volgen. De dingen die door personen werden gezegd was voor mij onduidelijk. Later in het verhaal had ik hier gelukkig minder last van doordat het verhaal duidelijker werd. Uiteindelijk vond ik het wel een mooi verhaal maar toch niet zo goed/mooi als Voor Jou
