Not for me… very gory (gross) horror, but also didn’t make a lot of sense in a lot of ways- started out strong but then towards the end I was really just skimming to finish. I was drawn in by cover and book description - just not what I was expecting. I really didn’t like it.

This book showed me once again that Judith Sonnet is a master at what she does, and I can say this is my new favorite book by her.
This is horror. Beyond being impeccably written, with an excellent character development, this book was a very interesting, and terrifying, take on the haunted house trope. The descriptions and way it was written, in addition to the mix of all the elements we know and love in horror, made this story sincerely creepy, but impossible to put down. I said it recently, I am not easily scared by books but this was terrifying.
If you haven’t read anything by Judith Sonnet yet, I highly recommend this one. But it may give you nightmares.

I didn't really like any of the characters, the stories the characters told were random and boring, and the time lines were out of order and confusing.

I want to start off by saying how refreshing it is to read about protagonists who are elderly. There is quite a bit of time-hopping, yes, but much of the narrative takes place in modern day. It was interesting to see the characters take on the supernatural when they are weak and feeble, as opposed to young and able bodied.
Mr. Friendlyman is a truly distressing villain, and there is some imagery in The Home that will stick with me. I didn't realize how cosmic the story would get, and I was pretty delighted with that. The only thing that knocked my rating down was the ending. So much information is revealed that I wish had been expanded upon, and I felt it ended super abruptly, almost confusingly so. I still absolutely recommend the book and rate it 4.25 stars.

This is a homage to the gory classics of yesteryears. A haunted house come cosmic horror by way of splatterpunk novel. This was certainly an enjoyable read. One I would highly recommend. The ebook formatting was a bit off though, but I'm sure this could be revised.
