A story that spans from the Second World War to the 1990s in Estonia, Purge is an uncomfortable read which recounts the life of one poor family living in the countryside.

There are many extremely nasty scenes containing violence against women, and yet what I found interesting in this book was that the story as a whole describes what life was like in Estonia through its Soviet occupation and also later at other significant points in history such as the Chernobyl disaster.

Unbedingt lesen.
Weltkrieg in Estland.
