Ok THE TWIST??? NAH THAT WAS WILD. Took me complletely by surprise. And getting shi qingxuan back healed something in my soul for sure. We got hualian development, lots of fun battles and so many gods coming to help. We got pei ming #1 hualian supporter, return of the xianle state preceptor, qi ying/quan yizhen being literally the cutest yet most violent little thing, feng xin being hated by his son, and so much more. The reveal was really the main bulk of it, which is why it felt more intermediary to me, if that makes sense? Like the buildup for next book. And i didnt feel as may emotions as i have before (qi rong like, died. :(( i hated him but also i had hopes for him sad sad). Also hua cheng is just so insanely op and I love it. I live knowing that everything will always be ok for xie lian not cuz hes the main character, but because hua cheng would rather die a second time than let anything happen to his loverboy. OH ALSO lots more borrowing of spiritual power. Whuch was so necessary. (Pls hua cheng bitch-slapping shi qingxuan vs how he shares with xie lian will never not be funny). So yes, a great setup and the battles were very very fun (and the reveal and the QUEEN that is Lord Rain master who absolutely dominated pei ming and stands up to jun wu. I fricking love her. ALSO SHI QINGXUAN USED HIS FAN ONE MORE TIME AND PPL WERE SO AMAZED CUZ THEY THOUGHT HE WAS A BEGGAR AND HE PROVED THEM WRONG AND HE JUST SEEMED SO TRAUMATIZED STILL BY THE HE XUAN THING AND I NEED HIM TO BE OK. I WANNA GIVE HIM A HUG:( Can you tell i have a favourite character🙃). Ok sorry im rambling. But i need the next (anf final—nooo😭) book NOW.
