I feel like my overall rating is more like a 3.5 if I’m being honest. I enjoyed the story and main characters, though some parts felt dragging. Tansy and Gemma’s relationship is so cute though so I’ll let everything else slide

A cute engagement of convenience tale. I liked Tansy and Gemma as central characters with interesting personal journeys that had legitimate stakes between Tansy needing money to save her struggling bookstore and Gemma seeking a wife to inherit her family's business by fulfilling the terms of her grandfather's will. However, between Gemma's roommate friends and all of the relatives, there is an abundance of secondary characters to keep track of and occasionally I had difficulty remembering who somebody was when a name was mentioned. Tucker was absolutely vile and I wanted much more from his comeuppance, especially given what he had done in the past and the stunt that he pulled at the climax. The subplot between Gemma's uncle and mother was a pleasant surprise that served as a nice contrast to the main storyline, and Gemma's growth arc is genuinely satisfying. While the book begins on the ridiculous side to propel the plot into motion and the romance is a bit too easy with these two quickly falling in love, it grew on me while the story progressed.

while funny at times, this book was unbelievably cringy and more than unrealistic.

It was difficult to get into the story. I really liked the main characters and the plot of the book. For whatever reason, I just didn’t find it entertaining or enjoyable.
