Sometimes I wonder about the fine line about letting creatives end the media they make when they want to vs the corporate desire to keep cranking out what makes them money. On one hand, you got stuff like the Simpsons and soap operas that have been consistently airing since your grandma's day (seriously, sometimes daytime TV when you're home sick can suck you in), and you wonder when it will finally be over. On the other hand, you had gems like Gravity Falls and Avatar: the Last Airbender that ended when their creators said it should end, but the fans have desperately wished for more.
Here, the top artist at the comic company wants to end his popular action series, and the rest of his artist rivals (our main characters included) are caught up in a lil competition to end his winning streak so that he WON'T end his best work. It's this kinda competitive nonsense that keeps drawing me back to the series since rather than competing with fighting or games, these dudes (and 1 lady) keep using the superpowers of the popularity of their fictional stories to one up each other. The stakes ain't super high either, but you really feel that they're fighting for a great cause.
Also, the new arc is about whether ageism has a place in the comics industry, especially when the comics are supposed to be aimed towards young readers. But this old man seemed to have miraculously made a hit and somehow, he's somehow roping in other creators past their prime to make precision comic hits. IMMEDIATELY I know where this is going & who's behind it, but we'll see how it goes...

Good for you Eiji! I firmly believe in the superiority of allowing a series to end at its' natural point instead of dragging it out until everyone looks pleadingly at the tv network manga editor to end it and spare us the misery. 3 stars
