4.0 AVERAGE

Sure, it took me a week to read this book, but that's not because I didn't enjoy it. I really did. It's been a while since I last read a drake book and I missed them. Lucy cracks me up as always, and she's gradually getting stronger in attitude. love love love Conner. The whole story/plot was gripping and I can't wait to see if there's another book in this series! woot!!

Oh my goodness, I am totally loving this series!!! :-) I'm so happy I have all the books to read one right after the other. :-)

Lucy is tired of the Drakes shutting her out. They are her family and they can't do that to her. It doesn't help when Christabel comes to town and the whole vampire thing has to be kept a secret. Then, she gets kidnapped.

You have to feel bad for Lucy. Her family is being taken away from her. Still, she has the strength to trek on and to keep trying to get into the Drakes head. She makes sure that they know that she isn't going anywhere.

Then you have Solange who is pushing everyone away from her. She is changing so much.

Then you have Christabel, who was kidnapped instead of Lucy. She is in Hel-Blar territory and it doesn't help that she has no idea what is going on. Then, of course there is Connor Drake who manages to sweep to her failed-rescue.

I can't wait for the next one. I wonder what the Drakes will have to fight down now.

First of all, what a cliffhanger! This was the biggest, most suspenseful cliffhanger yet in these books. I'm going to type this as quick as I can so I can start the next book! A lot of drama and action in this book, not as much mystery but still a fair little bit. I love the romance between the couple of the book and how their complications are so different from the couples paired up in the rest of the series. I also loved reading more about Lucy!

Bleedign Hearts

Number of pages: 289

Time it took me to read: 2 days

Rating (out of five stars): 4

“I drove down the back roads of Violet Hill in the middle of the night with my best friend and my boyfriend sitting on the roof of my mom’s car. It was the most normal part of my night so far.” (Bleeding Hearts, page 138)

Bleeding Hearts is told from the point of view of Christabel, Connor and Lucy. I relate to Christabel because she is also an avid reader and she just wants to be left alone to dive into her favorite book.

I can’t believe I’m about give an Alyxandra Harvey book 4 stars, but I have to be honest; Bleeding Hearts disappointed me. Unlike the first three, I didn’t feel the same suspense and emotions rereading it as I did the first time I read it. I’ve even read this book fewer times than the first three. Bleeding Hearts was also less humorous than the other books, which made it feel boring.

I have to give Bleeding Hearts for stars because I was honestly quite bored while reading it, but I did like the story.

I really enjoy this series and practically devour each new installment. I know I'm going to have a fun time reading them.

This time we get the story from 3 characters: Connor, Christabel and Lucy. I'm so pleased to have Lucy back as a narrator - I absolutely love her! And her cousin Christabel is a great - plus you can tell she is from the same family! She has attitude but in a very different way - I loved her obsession with reading and the way she repeats quotes to herself. Connor is another Drake brother to fall in love with - and although I still think Nicholas is my favourite - I can't help falling for each brother!

The story takes a bit more of a serious turn in this installment - especially where Solange is concerned. Also, it managed to completely take me by surprise - one thing happened that I did not see coming! And honestly, that ending? How on earth will I wait until the next book? Arrgggggg!

A great series and each book raises the stakes (sorry, couldn't resist!). I love reading them and can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

First of all, I gotta say that I LOVE this series. Every single Drake brother and every badass heroine in it. Second: god damn it, what was that ending?? OMG! KIERAN! I need the 5th book like right freaking now

A fun vampire read, Bleeding Hearts stands out from other paranormal romances.

The female characters in the Drake Chronicles always do a lot of nose punching. Lucy and her cousin Christabel are pretty sassy and five the book a light hearted feel. Even though Bleeding Hearts is about vampires and kidnapping the book always stays fairly humorous.

The pace is like a rollercoaster: Took awhile to build up momentum and then quickly began to rush towards the end. The beginning doesn’t have very much serious action going on and the end moves so fast that there is hardly any time to process what’s happening.

I wasn’t feeling the romance in this one. It doesn’t really serve a point. Sometimes Christabel and Connor were cute together, but I never felt any connection between them.

The multiple POVS is aggravating. Connor was very bland to read about. Christabel was slightly more interesting, yet got repetitive with her constant reminders that she lives and breathes historical literature. Lucy’s perspective was the most fun to read, yet it felt out of place since the story is mainly about the story of Connor and Christabel. Lucy has her own subplots going on, so sometimes I thought I was reading two different stories.

Many, many plot points are brought up and never fully addressed again, but I assume they will be answered in the next installment.

I enjoyed visiting the Drake world once again as the books are always pleasant read; however, this one isn’t my favorite of the series.

We're back to Lucy's POV, although there's the introduction of Christabel, who gets her own POV and is Lucy's cousin. She and Connor share sparks, which was cute to read about since they were so sweet together. What I do like about this series is that it's not just romance, but there's a pretty well-developed plot and structured vampire society that exists and we get to learn about the different types in addition to the political struggle that exists due to Solange's prophecy. And it's balanced nicely with the snarky humor and the cute and swoony romance which makes this series a gem to read. Also, Nicholas and Lucy are pretty much the perfect couple and I love them together so damn much.
