Já jsem tak nějak na rozpacích. Vypravěčský styl McMahon mě fakt baví (i když se zamotám na začátku do postav a linek :D), ale tady mě fakt bavilo vše, až na nadpřirozený prvek. On by z toho byl fakt dobrej detektivní psychotriller, ani bych tam nepotřebovala nadpřirozeno. Ale jako i předchozí kniha to bylo neuvěřitelně čtivé a bavila jsem se, takže tuhle výtku jsem ochotná spolknout :D
I haven't read a book of McMahon's that I disliked. This was no exception - creepy, thought provoking, and "out there" in the best way possible.

This book actually hooked me towards the last half, but still not enough to get four stars, because it was hard to get into. I listened on audio, and the narrator was fine, but it flip-flopped between timelines & there were a handful of characters that I kept getting mixed up. it’s great if you like mystery and ghost stories though.
How do I even begin to describe this book? Told through three different time periods from a few different perspectives, The Night Sisters is about monsters, mares to be exact. Mares, as described in the beginning chapters are people who can take other forms at night.
Brutal murders, people going missing, a creepy hotel, a strange tower, and three best friends and their creepy neighbor who watches their going out and their coming in. It is also about two sisters, of which one suspects the other of being a mare.
This sounds like an odd mishmosh of things, but it worked well. The suspense in this book is pretty great as it always feels like something is going to happen at any minute. I could see too that some might say that it is too slow moving. I read it in bits and pieces, so the pace was just fine for me. I would read a few chapters, put it down for an hour or two, read a few more, etc. By the final day, I wanted to solve the mystery and see what happened in the differing times.
I had not ever read one of her books, but she is completely on my radar thanks to this book. I would up enjoying it more than I thought I would. I would give it 3.5 stars going into 4. It is a slower paced book. I did figure out one part of the mystery fairly quickly, so that may have tainted my read a bit. If you like suspense, it is worth your time. It is one that you have to be in the mood for too.
