one piece will always be 5 stars. manga, anime, live action, even the games are peak.
my rating is for all of it combined. single handedly changed my life, got me into drawing after years, the best bonding activity to converse with people who are also fans. it’s just so good. my suicide will continue to be postponed until the end

There are a lot of good shounen manga out there, of course there is, but for me, One Piece always stands out. It has all the things I love in a book - great characters with strong personalities, tragic backstories, genuine friendships, interesting (and incredibly diverse) characters, excellent worldbuilding, and a fascinating overarching plot overall.

I remember One Piece airing way back when, but compared to Naruto that started airing at the time, I preferred Naruto's art (at the time!) But because I've always been a little impatient, and always a reader first and foremost, I ended up reading Naruto (and still haven't finished that anime) and putting One Piece aside, for no reason other than the art.

At some point in time later, probably 2012 actually, I decided, on the recommendation of my brother, to actually give the One Piece manga a go. But man, there were so many chapters, I was seriously intimated (around 500 at that time, give or take 100/200 chapters). I started it of course. Loved the first few arcs, initially found the Skypeia arc a drag (but I love that arc so much now), and loved Water 7. Basically, once I passed Skypeia, I was already tearing through the manga, reading it as if my life depended on that.

I may have been interested in Naruto more than One Piece at first, but for a long time now, One Piece has long ceased to be 'second place'. It officially surpassed Naruto, probably about the time when Sasuke started annoying me (well sort of annoying me, I get his motivations, I do).

And then I reached the Impel Down and Marineford arcs, and my heart broke. I was already enjoying the whole series, though perhaps not in love with it until that arc. Because that's the arc where we learn even more about Luffy, the One Piece, and Gol D. Roger.

Now I've got to catch up every few months to stay updated. It's probably going to really hurt when the series finishes.

Una deuda que debía saldar hace tiempo. Gran parte de ésto lo había visto en el anime pero realmente esta mucho mejor en el manga.

One Piece is one of the Animes I grew up with and rewatched countless times. However, I never read the Manga.

Hence, I thought I needed to finally change this. The knowledge I already have actually makes the reading experience even more pleasant. It's like searching for Easte  eggs. All the scenes that were either cut out, added or changed in the Anime. All the things that were hinted on.
I jot down some notes, thoughts and Analysis as I go and I love it. It's like experiencing everything for the first time again.
