Beautiful story. Suki Fleet sure can write. I was completely drawn into Crash and Summers lives.

Summer survived

Crash couldn't rescue Summer at the time, but he finds him now and begins helping him heal. It was good to see how Summer cared for Sky.

As usual for this author, this story's protagonists, young and lost but sweet, find, lose, then find each other again. I am not deaf and can't speak to the accuracy of the POV character's disability, but it sure felt real. It's just how Crash is, whereas Summer is the victim of an abuser from before when he and Crash meet. Parts of this story are harsh, but at the core is love and endurance and loyalty. It was also nice to 'visit' two characters from an earlier, much more traumatic (for me) story, too. Yay happily-ever-afters!

First of all this is a little out of my comfort zone. This is my first LGBTQ romance.
The book is a companion novel but I still felt like I was missing something by not reading [b:This is Not a Love Story|22499313|This is Not a Love Story (Love Story Universe)|Suki Fleet|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1403167488s/22499313.jpg|40332545] first. As the story begins you are immediately into the high drama and angst of the story and characters. The author succeeded in making me care enough about the characters to keep going.

What can I say? Suki has written yet another beautiful story, full of colour and life and just a pleasure to read. When she first told me that she was writing Crash's (Christopher's)story I was thrilled because if any of her secondary characters from [b:This Is Not a Love Story|22499313|This Is Not a Love Story|Suki Fleet|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1403167488s/22499313.jpg|40332545] deserved their own tale then it was this one.

She hasn't disappointed, and Wild Summer not only gives us more of Crash, and how he became the person he is, but also gives us another wonderfully colourful (and I mean colourful!) character in Summer. What an amazing name to begin with, you just know this young man is going to be very interesting and he is: interesting, complicated, mysterious and beautiful.

This story is well worth reading. It stands alone since it is a spin off from Suki's first novel, but reading this and "This is Not a Love Story" would be a fantastic way to lose a weekend. In fact, that is what I am going to do right now since I would read this story over and over I love it so much.

A little less angsty than most of Fleet's books, primarily because one of the MCs is in a fairly stable place in his life (at least in the scenes set "now" as opposed to those set four years prior). Couldn't quite buy that such a strong connection was made between Christopher/Crash and Summer in a 24 hour period that could survive years of separation. Nice to see Romeo and Julian from [b:This is Not a Love Story|22499313|This is Not a Love Story (Love Story Universe)|Suki Fleet|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1403167488l/22499313._SX50_.jpg|40332545] happy together and supporting Crash.
