finished in an hour & it still wasn't worth the time it took to read it. good if you're looking for gross-out/shock horror i guess? characters felt underdeveloped & almost indistinguishable which is unfortunate when the format of your story is email conversations. gross and then sad - not worth the hype imo

It’s short story which you can finish in one sitting, and it’s a bit disturbing…not that much though.

Though, I have to admit I expect WAY worse. Like, especially because of the cover (which is the reason why I wanted read it) and some of the reviews. But it’s not that disturbing, I’ve read worse. It’s more sad than disturbing actually.

It’s quite easy and thrilling to read though. All of the story is said in email or chat form, and is a critique in human mind and mental health.
I think it does a good enough job but I feel like it could have been more.
Especially, some parts which I didn’t get.

Overall, it’s a story of two people chatting which spiral into something worse and disturbing…

Be sure to read the content warnings and it’s a good read (I mean not a GOOD read, like an interesting read ?)

So this was possibly the most disturbing thing I've ever read.

Look up the trigger warnings prior to reading this book. Nothing I could put together would be exhaustive or perfect.

I walked into this knowing nothing and read this aloud to my wife on a 3.5 hour drive to the beach. I stopped about half way through (salamander) because I got upset. I finished it at the beach but did not read it aloud again. I told my wife the ending because I knew it would upset her more to hear or read it.

Enjoyed the writing and the stories within the story. I thought the set up was really nice and it made me enjoy the ending more. I really loved the acknowledgments. Good book if you like really fucked up shit.

I prefer bigger books so it wasn’t substantial enough for me.

cool:)! WHAT THE FUCK <3

i have no idea how to rate this book. this explores manipulation, sadomasochism, body horror, deep psychological horror. the love in this book is psychotic🥰

i’ve seen people criticize the author for being a non-afab individual writing a very torturous manipulative story centered around two queer women (i’ve seen it called “lesbian trauma porn”) as a queer afab person i did not find this story exploitative of the fact that the characters were two women.

it was deeply disturbing and beautifully written.
