I had high expectations for this book, and I think that’s why I feel so disappointed. If I had no expectations, I’d probably be quite pleased with this book. But realistically, it just isn’t that good. I was expecting far worse gore, and although there were some “icky” parts, it was only borderline gross, in my opinion. Interesting characters though.

Weird, shocking, gross. At no point did I know where it was going to know and my jaw literally dropped in disgust multiple times.

Would you still love me if there was a worm inside of me?
I went in completely blind, and it felt like the most bizarre and deprived thing I ever read. For some strange reason, I made it through to the end. It felt like those cases when there is a car crash or somebody breaks their arm and a crowd just watches as somebody is screaming bloody murder, I couldn't look away for my morbid curiosity made me find the source of such terrible suffering. Like what do an apple peeler, a salamander and a piece of rotten meat have in common? Nothing, I just can't look at it without having horrible flashbacks to this text. At least the format was interesting, with written emails and text messages. I thought at the very least, we would find out why it was being investigated by the police department. My theory is
Agnes met her demise after shitting the fucking tapeworm and THANK GOD was she stupid. Like I don't kink shame, but wtf was that
Was it worth it? I don't think so, and I also think I will not read any other book by this author unless I fully know what I'm getting into. It's not my type of horror, it felt like the topics I most dislike and find disturbing all mixed up for nothing, an example is
all the animal cruelty and killing that was portrayed, the constant discussion of childbearing and pregnancy, and eating rotten bug-filled food to get a parasite in the stomach, all for NOTHING
. It made me want to vomit, the worst is that it was very descriptive, to every excruciating detail. I especially hated the story of the poor baby, what even was the reason. It felt like those sick instances when people just talk about these tragedies for no reason but their sadistic pleasure. I can't keep on thinking about this book, it is not my cup of tea. However, I'm just one person, so be my guest if you're brave enough and have already eaten because after this you certainly won't be able to. I will recognize that the book was effective, it had all the disturbing qualities of good horror. It's just not for me, tho I did laugh sometimes.
I guess in the end, I would not be able to love you if there was a worm inside of you.
