I'm so bored, but I keep reading. What is wrong with me? I can't take it anymoooore! The writing is so blah and cliche! DNF'ed @ 58%

There are better contemporary romances with better writing; you all need to really get a grip and stop hyping these books. The characters lacked depth, Vivian just LET Dante do whatever he wanted until he decided he wanted to "go all the way". She let him disrespect her, and I was not down for that at all. Plus, the book is redundant and I was bored overall. I was not impressed at all. I didn't expect much, but I definitely though I'd get more than dry scenes with absolutely NO chemistry between the two characters. The overuse of similes; woman . . . please use another type of figurative language for crying out loud.

This is what I want out of a forced marriage / relationship trope. Steamy, while not being overwhelmingly smutty. Both main characters have their own personalities. There’s conflict and personal growth and, most importantly, no miscommunication trope! Simple plot line but it still packs a punch. Loved all of the characters. Definitely recommend

Dante and Vivian certainly started me on the enemies to lovers train, and I loved following their dynamic changes as Dante became more possessive in a caring way rather than simply as a way to win, and Vivian let him in. If I had written this review when I first read the book, it may have been 5 stars, but as I reflect back on it, it did just feel super predictable and Dante is far less exciting of a lead that other Ana Huang MMC (hello Christian and Kai). I’ve gone back and re-read it since and while I still enjoy it, this is not a couple I’m looking to return to over and over again, despite really enjoying the book.

not to parrot every other critique, but this book is genuinely just every ah book but with different names. i couldn’t even pinpoint when the enemies became lovers. they just fucked once and then decided to be a real couple. i feel like i genuinely missed where they fell in love and why. it wasn’t clear where their connection came from. the last hour of the audiobook was the best part though bc i love a pining man.
