Dream Spinner is the third book in a Dream Team Series and it tells the story of shy and beautiful exotic dancer Hattie and handsome and mysterious commando hottie Axl.

This series is one of those where each book tells the story of a different couple but the plot is continued through the entire series. And even though I like the plot in the previous books because it was suspenseful and it was adding a mystery vibes to the books, I didn't like it in this installment. It wasn't as suspenseful as I would prefer and as it was in previous books. I wanted more action these are commandos after all!!!

But because KA is an amazing author and her storytelling skills are brilliant, I still enjoyed it!!
Hottie and Axl’s relationship was beautiful I love how they support each other! Especially Axl, both of them have some issues but Hattie was the one that needed to be pushed from her shell and see the light. And Axl was the perfect man to do it. Oh, I love him! I was swooning the entire time! The strong smart and handsome alpha male in KA style is my favorite and Axl didn't disappoint me

Kristen Ashley does not disappoint. I look forward to flipping every page. There is always so much going on. There is always lots of family drama. You don't need a crime show when you can read one of Kristen's books. There is always a fantastic love story weaved throughout the book. Axl and Hattie were the stars of this book. They left me soaring.

Love Hattie & Alx

Really enjoying this different turn in the series. There is quite a lot of negative comments about this series and I do think it’s because they feel it should be more like the rocket. I actually really enjoy the difference in style and the difference in the characters and really loving that the hawks commandos are getting their happy ever afters

This is very much quintessential Kristen Ashley. Both Hattie and Axl have trauma in their past. Hattie is incredibly shy and dealing with damage from her father over the years. She has recently started to pull away from her friends and isolate herself, including from Axl with whom she has an intense attraction. Then when trouble comes her way, she can't continue to isolate and ignore those in her life.

This definitely hit with one of the tropes I love - the incredibly shy woman and the over protective alpha. This installment in the series was by far my favorite. The story and dialogue flowed naturally and one of the things I loved about this was getting to see so much of Hattie and Axl together and how they grow as a couple. I also loved that we get to see a lot of the friends from previous books, but in this book it flows naturally and doesn't feel forced. I'm really looking forward to Auggie and Pepper's story!

I received an Advance Review Copy of this book and have voluntarily left an honest review.

So many emotional and relationship issues tackled and overcome as Hattie and Axl sorted their shit and found love. I am DYING for the last book and Pepper and Auggie are gonna be AWESOME!

This series is quite good, Hattie is a very interesting character, a ballerina, and we get Axl a character that will have to swim against everything to get inside Hattie's barriers, but Axl has been a very difficult character and one I really wanted to read about. The story was very emotional with some very steamy scenes and a good plot, however it wasn't my favorite of the series and I think some aspects of the story should've been written in a bit more depth. Still can't wait to read Pepper's story.

Dream Spinner (Dream Team Book 3) by Kristen Ashley
Book 3 (kind of 4, see below) in a series. Contemporary Romance.

I haven’t been reading or reviewing much over the past year, but I decided to catch up on a few reviews of books that I’ve read this year. I never miss a Kristen Ashley book. She is a guaranteed enjoyable read, and while Dream Spinner is no exception, it wasn’t really one of my favorites.

Don’t get me wrong. I actually loved Axl and Hattie, and I loved Kristen’s writing, as always. But the whole relationship build-up didn’t happen in this book. These two have been dancing around each other for months, and we’ve seen glimpses in the previous books in the series.
“Hattie, this is the longest non-relationship relationship in history. We’ve been together since the first time you shot me down for a date and I think you know that better than me.”

Hattie is a dancer at Smithies, but she is classically trained and an actual ballerina. Her father is emotionally abusive, yet she still takes care of him and his health issues. Axl is a commando who has been into her for a while, but she has been shooting him down, and he’s kind of moved on. That is, until she has a stalker, and you know what happens when a KA heroine has a stalker, right? Axl to the rescue!

(BUT, she didn’t call Axl, she called Brett Cisco, the antihero you can’t help but love. Please Kit, we need a Cisco book!)

Axl had his own family drama, but he was a little more lighthearted and certainly more talkative than most KA heroes. But he was still very much a Kristen Ashley alpha-- started off as kind of a dick, but you can't help but love him. Hattie also grew on me.
"You make people feel when you dance. You make them gasp. Your dad’s been a dick to you all your life, he messed with your head, hurt you, and your loyalty to blood doesn’t break. Your art, babe, we haven’t even gotten to that. Fuck, we haven’t even scratched the surface of you.”

My big issue is that it was just another rehash of the Rock Chick/Dream Man series. There was nothing memorable. I had to read through my notes and skim the book again to write this review. I still enjoyed every second, but nothing kept me running back to my kindle. And while I love crossovers, there are a TON here. I’m glad the River Rain series won’t really have crossovers, there is just too many characters to keep straight.
"I get that, honey. But you're not experiencing the adorableness of you."

Likes:

  • •Cleo the cat.

  • •Kristen’s writing style.

  • •Brett Cisco.

  • •Seeing some previous characters.

  • •The friendships between everyone.

Dislikes:

  • •There wasn’t really anything new and exciting.

  • •Focused too much on her relationship with her dad.

  • •Tons of suspense but no action!

  • •I enjoyed it while I read it, but forgot about it as soon as I stopped.

The Down & Dirty:
If you love Kristen Ashley, you will enjoy Dream Spinner, but don’t expect anything new, different and exciting. I’m still going to grab her books the second I can, because, well, Rock Chick and Dream Man are two favorite series, so I don’t mind more of the same. I still breathe a happy sigh while reading, and tear up at her happy endings. And I still can't wait for the next in the series. A Kristen Ashley book that isn't my favorite is still a book I loved.

Rating: 4 stars, 4 Heat

Purchase Dream Spinner by Kristen Ashley

*NOTE: If you haven’t read Quiet Man yet, it’s a good idea to read that before this series, but for this book in particular, because Lottie and Moe play a larger role in it, and Quiet Man was their book.

I’m probably never going to stop reading and loving Kristen Ashley’s books, but this one? I really, really, really loved this one. Honestly, my only issue with is that there wasn’t a fuck pool, because that shit cracks me up. Other than that? I wish I’d bought a damn physical copy so I could hug it, because God, I wish these characters were real I love them so much. I sincerely can’t wait for Pepper and Augie’s book, which will hopefully not be the last in this series, because I’m feeling a serious need for a Cisco book!
