This book shows the deep complexities of queer polyamory. it does not shy away from showing the characters flaws and biases. i had to put it down a lot during reading because some parts were really hitting close to home, or just brutally painful to read, like watching a car crash and being unable to do anything .

i definitely still reccomend this book to people, especially those who are queer and poly. just be prepared to feel a lot of emotions, and to be faced with things you thought only you experienced written down in a book.

I loved this book. the characters aren't perfect, and I love that. pregnancy is a topic I'm not usually a fan of, but I thought I would try something new and I'm glad I did. it's definitely a harder book to read due to all the sensitive topics, as well as just generally feeling like a like book to read, but it is so worth it.

DID NOT FINISH: 32%

It’s a heavy read, really well written but I might try again when I’m not in the trenches

DNF
Even halfway through it still felt like a slog. I found myself caring more about the present story but annoyed by the constant flashbacks.
As a nonbinary person, I was annoyed that the author kept the characters very binary. They were either a man or a woman with no allowance for something in between or discussion of gender as a spectrum. I read Ames/Amy as a genderfluid person but the author and the other characters wanted to shove them in a box.

There doesn’t seem to be so much as a plot as an overall vibe. The characters grapple with sexuality and what it means to be a woman/man. I hated Reese though. She knew she was toxic but didn’t seem to care that she was, which made her lash out and hurt those around her for no other reason that it soothed her. She brings up a lot of valid points in how trans women are treated and how she deserves to be a mother but her treatment of both Ames and Katrina was just horrific.
