What does it mean to be a mother? The way that this novel explores transness and motherhood is so unique, and something that I hope other authors will also explore in the future.
I agree with other reviewers that the exploration of race in this book falls flat, so that is why I am taking off a star for this review. I hope to see more nuanced perspectives on this topic from trans people of color in future works that I read.

My one gripe was the analysis of race was limited. Oppression olympics theme was frustrating and I think Katrina’s character was less complex and developed
