I wish I could’ve loved this…but alas. There were some good parts that I enjoyed, mainly in the second half, but it was too little too late. What was described as a love letter to Wellesley College read to me as a college brochure. On top of that, the info dumps through unrealistic thought patterns and conversations between characters was just not tasteful. I will say that the second half was a lot better than the first, but oof, it still couldn’t carry the whole story. The characters seemed unrealistic and flat, and while I enjoyed seeing Jo’s development at the end, I didn’t see Sophie change all that much at all. It just seemed quite unbalanced.

the ace representation this book holds is absolutely stunning. not only through the characters, but also the mentions of ace media, resources, etc. this book is one of many ace representational books that will be permanently on my bookshelf!

while i was a HUGE fan of the rep and the casual exposure this offers to aro/ace identities and culture i did find it to be a bit mundane. it reads very simple which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but unfortunately made the characters a bit one dimensional. it genuinely really warms my heart to see aro/ace rep and read qpr love so i don’t regret reading it all, I just wish it had a little bit more substance. every once in a while there would be moments where character development and depth would shine through but most of the time it was superficial and a bit wattpad-y. i recommend it a) if you want to just read more aro/ace themed fiction or b) if you want something really low stakes that doesn’t take a lot of energy to consume
