At first, I didn't really like the story, especially Charlie... He sounds so stubborn and confused to me.. but as i continue to the next book, I realized why I didn't like it at first. Me and Charlie is so much alike... Same hiding of feelings, trust issues... We're scared of rejection and people leaving us... And now I liked it...He inspired me to do things for the better :) I just need my other half to do this :)

I love series that follow the same couple from getting together and beyond. I especially love stories that show couples navigating issues like a real couple, complete with arguing and bad communication. Nothing overly flowery or lovey dovey.

This book was that. An actual story with plot, and a couple you're rooting for and believe in, who have some brilliant, romantic moments, but most of the time they're just a normal couple who aren't perfect.

The difficulties I had with the writing style of book 1 were either not there in this book (although there were a few typos that seemed to have been missed in editing) or I was just so invested in Charlie and Travis and their story that I didn't notice them anywhere near as much.

Really enjoyed this story and happy there's more in the series so I can read more of them.

This series just gets better. Travis is wonderful, and Charlie is just waiting for things to fall apart, so much so that he almost ruins it himself. But finally he gets his head out of his own ass and talks to Travis, and things are great. For about 5 seconds. Then they get a call from immigration, and I spent the rest of the book dreading a cliffhanger ending, which I thankfully didn't get.

Oh and 2 more things - Matilda and Nugget! Travis brings home strays, how cute is that? Not kittens or puppies but a roo and a wombat! Poor Charlie, I worry for what comes next.

This is a wonderful continuation of Charlie and Travis' story as it delved deeper into their relationship and how they're faring 6 months later.

Again I thought Travis was awesome - he was charming, disarming, and never wavered in his love for Charlie.

Charlie was a bit frustrating - his insecurities hampering his ability to be truly happy. But when he comes into his own, it was beautiful to witness - best scenes in the book!

I felt this was a bit heavier in the angst department and a bit less in the smex - but richer and more fulfilling with a satisfying and funny ending.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

“This is what’s it’s about, right here. Open desert, flat to the horizon, blue sky, red dirt and you.”

I don’t know why I didn’t review the rest of this series when I first listened to it, but oh well. Will do it now that I’m relistening.

I really am a massive fan of Travis. Both MCs are great, I’ve just got a big soft spot for Travis. He’s so damn genuine, open and honest. He’s buckets better at communicating than Charlie, which is a big theme throughout this one. There’s no annoying miscommunication or that kinda thing, just a man who never learned that he could speak his mind or talk about feelings. It’s overall very sweet, but Charlie and Travis are definitely feeling the effects of only knowing each other 4 weeks, and then living *and* working together for 6 months straight, lol.

These books will also get you in the feels. As I was listening to the last couple chapters last night, I had silent tears streaming down my face like I was starring in a sad music video, lol. I recommend this series so damn much. It really has got everything, and N. R. Walker is extremely high up on my list of favorite authors.

Emotional and a bit angsty, but heartwarming throughout. Charlie was a mess per usual and actively ignoring his feelings. Travis was worried alongside him while they fretted that he’d be deported. Plus Travis rescued a cute baby kangaroo.
