Amazing story, beautifully written. I love when an author is able to craft a new world and it feels believable and fully-formed. I was on the edge of my seat every time I read because I was so captivated and wanted to know more. The internal yearning between Nicole and Kyan while they externally tried to keep their distance while still being wary yet respectful of the other was *chef’s kiss*. Kyan being a respectful and protective king, Nicole being a smart and capable warrior, ugh. The gentle yet not-so-gentle way their relationship progressed?! Awesome. I am so excited to read more and I wish the trilogy was complete already so I can binge the rest and see how this whole plan unfolds. Unfortunately, I read it too early, which means I will just have to read it all again next year when I have the rest of the trilogy.

You know what, I had mixed feelings on this one and I'd be lying if I didn't giggle at the term 'Empyreal,' something about it just sounds so ridiculous. The concept was great though and the plot has potential but it did be DRAGGING in the middle- a whole lot of nothing happened but to be fair the author did say she wanted to focus on the romance.
Overall decent read, but why do we so love the centuries age gap romances? MMC is also a bit bland. Season the man please.

adventurous

dit boek was niet stom, maar het had me ook totaal niet in zijn greep. ik vond het begin met het onderzoek naar de kunst en het schilderij wat kwijtraakt erg interessant, maar daarna gaat het verhaal totaal ergens anders heen en was ik het even kwijt. het is echt een enemies to lovers alpha male romantasy, en het pakte me niet zo 🤭

this book felt refreshingly new. it followed similar lines of books i’ve loved dearly but had so many interesting aspects that were nice. a really amazing read
