It started off strong but got really boring and predictable at the end. I don’t mind women writing men at all but at least make it a little less obvious in their inner monologue

It was a slow start for me. We were only getting to know the characters and how the magic worked, but it really took off for me in the second half of the book. I was loving the story from that point. I loved how Regina started trusting Ben and how much he loved that she did. He was crazy about her since the beginning and had no idea, that poor boy (500 year old boy) and it only grew stronger as they became friends.
The auntie... Oh boy. "If you're worried, stay with Ben. If you need anything, ask Ben." The lady couldn't be more obvious and I loved it. However I did think right away that, and I was righttt. Considering her shenanigans, it felt pretty obvious. So the twist at the end didn't shock me, unfortunately.
Still, it was a fun read that I enjoyed a lot.
Though I will say the cover looks nothing like Ben

I thought the characters were well done. I can't stand when characters in romance genera are left to be shallow and vapid. Here they have their flaws, that weren't cutesy, reasonable miscommunication and good chemistry. The plot was also fun enough to keep going, and the world building has some fun creative elements.
