I don't quite understand the British.

I never know what to say about Muriel Spark. I like her, but she is one odd duck.

Very funny in parts, let down by the bizarrely dated ending for a book written in 2000. It's also disappointing after how insightful the book was on how Britain's changed since the 1970s to have an ending which would have been old-hat in the 1960s.

Basically, there's no excuse for a book written in this century to end with "and then Lord Lucan was eaten by African cannibals". Like, c'mon, really?

Not as good a Lord Lucan story as [bc:The Butterfly Man|1585765|The Butterfly Man|Heather Rose|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1324039353s/1585765.jpg|1578678].

Really rather random novella
