I've read a few other books about Scientology and I think that background helped me understand a lot more of Leah's book than I'd have been able to understand otherwise. There are so many rules and acronyms and strange levels. Leah is funny and honest but there's not much more to this than her experiences with Scientology. Overall it was an interesting read and I'm glad she was able to get out.
A few things:
* Audio book - read by Leah and it was a fantastic listen! I laughed out loud several times, and loved hearing her delivery. I would bet a non-audio version isn't quite as fulfilling.
* Scientology. For these "tell all" religion books I always bump up my rating because I think there's probably a conspiracy of scientologists out there giving it 1 star. Anyway. I've read a good bit about Scientology and didn't think I could be too shocked at this point about how terrible they were but her frank and first hand account was really, really intersting. Further, her sort of compassionate view of it was nice. She defected, but the way she tells her story gives the reader a way to understand *why* someone might get into the church and be unable to break away... or not want to. Or not know they can. It's truly sad to me that this sort of oppressive and brainwashing organization is allowed to exist (and tax free, thanks 'Merica!)
* Apparently Jennifer Anniston is nice, and this makes me happy. I do not do celeb gossip, but knowing Rachel is actually nice just made me happy . J-Lo too. And Tom Cruise is crazy but you knew that. Oh, and she and Kevin James are pretty much just like they are on the show too which is great.
Really loved this book and I'm sad it's over. It's possibly my favorite thing Leah Remini has done.

Leah Remini provides an eye-opening insider look into Scientology's awful practices.
It's more than just Tom Cruise crazytown stories.
Interesting listen on Audible, read by the author.

So fascinated by this subject, this is my second read on Scientology written by someone who has left the "faith."
Did this as an audible book and so glad I did. Leah Remini reads it herself and she tells a good story.
Scientology fascinates me. I cannot believe what this woman went through, and what people still go through as a result of this "religion." I would have rated this 5 stars, but I felt that the Tom Cruise stuff was really spiteful - yes, he seems like a terrible person. You don't have to convince me that much. This wasn't a Tom Cruise Is The Worst book.
It was interesting to read about Leah's experiences with Scientology and the reasons she left.
(audiobook) I loved this. Leah really dishes on her life and her life with Scientology. I was interested to learn about her introduction to Scientology as a child.
Love love love. Brutally honest, not just about Scientology and Hollywood but herself. It takes balls to admit your faults and shortcomings. You go, Leah! Keep up the fight of exposing Scientology!!
