While it started slow, once we got to her escape from Scientology, I could not put it down. Truly fascinating!

I highly recommend that you read this using the Audible version. Leah Remini reads it herself and adds a cartoon flair only she is capable of. Her story is engaging and she sprinkles enough humor here and there to keep you laughing.

i've been wanting to read this for awhile now and finally got the audiobook to listen to in the car. it's read by leah herself, which adds to the greatness of the book. (you know i love it when authors read their autobiographies/ memoirs/ whatever!) her story is fascinating and it's truly no holds barred and filled with her spunk.

My first ever audio book! This weird choice was inspired by a visit to the Church of Scientology in Buffalo that I recently participated in as part of Leadership Buffalo. It was a bizarre, fascinating and surreal experience- I could have spent another hour there. I had so many unanswered questions after leaving, so this seemed like a guilty pleasure read to get some more information from a former church insider. There were lots of juicy details about Hollywood and Scientology, as promised, but it did paint a picture too of how people get sucked into this lifestyle, and how it traps them. I'm not a huge fan of Leah Remini, but this was a very enlightening look at some of the controversy I've seen in the headlines over the years. A weird read that I don't regret!

Great as an audiobook. Basically everything you want out of a Leah Remini tell all. Except SBTB gossip.

I’d already known I wasn’t a fan of Scientology because of the way they abuse the tax-free deals given to churches even though they are clearly a pyramid marketing scheme that owns a ridiculous amount of real estate that they make even more money off of. Also, because of the way they abuse children through neglect and slave labor, as the movie Going Clear illustrated.

Remini backs up many of the things the movie talked about, including how much money people are expected to pay into the organization, often going into debt and even losing their homes because of the pressure to give more money to Scientology. The amount Remini paid into the organization over the years (her mother joined Scientology when Remini was young, so she and her sister joined, too) is unfathomable to me, and acting is a career that doesn’t always last forever—actors, like athletes or anyone in the arts, really need to save their money. The part of the book that talked about various ways its members were used and abused angered me, but there was some celebrity stuff that added levity to the book. For example, learning that Jennifer Anniston was up for a part that Remini got and was genuinely gracious and nice about it. Also, I found it interesting that Remini had auditioned for the role of Monica on Friends.

I couldn’t imagine working twelve-hour days on the set of a sitcom and then being required to spend two and half hours doing stuff with Scientology. When did she eat, sleep, workout, have any fun whatsoever?

I'm glad she finally got out, but it was tough to read how difficult it was for her--how just about everyone she thought were her friends shunned her for leaving or even before she left and was just questioning.

Loved this! I have seen Leah on A&E, and the Bill Maher show, so I was curious to find out more about her time within Scientology. I found this fascinating. Very brave of her to write about her experiences. I like her honest approach.

Brutally honest and an intriguing look inside Scientology.

Honest and riveting. Scientology is scary and Tom Cruise is an asshole. Leah is brash and outspoken. I like her. Worth reading if you’re curious about the goings on of the Church.

I must say that I'm so glad I purchased this book. I've been a fan of Remini since the good ole' Saved by the Bell days. I love how she gave you and in depth look of her life growing up and talking about her horrible experience in the cult known as Scientology.
I literally finished this book in two days and I couldn't stop reading it. I simply couldn't believe how these people that she has devoted her life to would treat her and many others the way they do. The techniques these people used to brainwash people and scam you into spending money on them and they pocket it. There were so many instances where Remini described the situations she was going through with the church of scientology and I just couldn't believe it. Your life is just controlled like a robot; programmed even. I do not know how she survived this long but, I am so glad Leah finally stood up for herself. The one thing I love the most about this woman is the no bullish*t attitude, She takes matters into her own hands when she feels something is wrong. True she is isn't a saint I admit that, but apart from that I love her determination and passion for what she believes in. I really hope that whole scientology shing ding disappears because these people are horrible individuals who suck the soul out of their followers. I highly recommend this book. It's well-written, funny, makes you mad all in one. That's what a good book does.
