eh, I am dnfing around the halfway mark. It feels like nothing has happened and the two most interesting characters, Eli and Victor, don't even share a page so idk man.

This needed to be like 300 pages shorter for me to actually finish. Bye.

this is the last time I will give Schwab a chance. Aside from Addie, her style just isn't for me.

WOW. This duology is SO GOOD. I love how dark and twisty this series is. The magic is amazing and Vengeful had me on the edge of my seat! I also really like how much it jumps around in time. It kept me on my toes haha!

despite a majority of the book being written in fragmented flash backs (and forwards), the format almost built it's tension up the closer you got to present day. normally, I find myself struggling to keep things straight when the timeline isn't linear, but schwab does such an effortless job of keeping everything clear for you, that I think she pulls this unique style off.

what can I even say about the characters? they are so flawed and horrible and yet you can't help but love them. what else do you expect flawed humans who wake up with extraordinary power to do with their second chance at life? some scenes in this book reminded me of x-men in the best ways. I am so anxious to see what she does with book 3.
