Good story line but kind of predictable. Slow pace IMO. There is a lot that you learn about each character, it all happens in a matter of days. But you get to see different POVs and that takes a lot of time read how everyone felt over one event that happened.

I enjoyed this book as a lazy Sunday quick read.
The plot kept me turning the page, but mostly due to needing to know if I had figured it out. I felt I had figured it out pretty early, but did question myself at a point late in the story.
I enjoyed the various perspectives of each character - I’ve read some felt it was too choppy, but I thought it was cohesive. I think it helped develop the plot well and drop a few breadcrumbs along the way.
The only likable character, IMO, isNicole.
I found the writing to be wordy, so a few points feel drawn out more than necessary.
Overall, I think this book is worth a shot. The chaos of each character and the small town whodunit will keeps you drawn in. You may need to skip a few lines/paragraphs to keep to on track with the story, but it’s worth it.

I didn't dislike this book but it also didn't "wow" me. I feel like it was too dragged out for what it was. The constant bickering between the siblings was fine at first but then it became redundant. Overall, wasn't a bad story, just thought it could've been wrapped up quicker.

This was not the gripping thriller I was hoping it would be with a title like Home Is Where the Bodies Are. It wasn’t super thrilling until like the last 20% of the book, and the mystery wasn’t at the forefront of the plot. This book does deal heavily with the topics of grief and addiction and I thought it handled those topics very well.

“Death reminds us that life isn’t infinite and that one day, our time will come too. We pause to listen to that reminder, to acknowledge it., to show the respect it demands, & then we spread out into the world like Pappi on a dying dandelion waiting on it to call us again, hoping the next call will be to gather, rather than be gathered around. Knock knock. Don’t worry. It’s not for you…this time.”
Remember the 90’s? Well, if you’re a millennial or older you probably do. This now “retro” time period is one many of us are nostalgic for; A Simpler time, a “golden era” … or maybe more of a “Seafoam” era if we’re being accurate. From the beginning I knew I would enjoy this author’s writing and Jeneva Rose did not disappoint. This book is so physically stunning, from the dust jacket to the hardcover underneath. It’s so beautiful I didn’t want to annotate it , but I couldn’t help it! There were so many quotable lines in this book that it’s insane. The author shows a lot of real world insight through her writing. During my reading, I thought of THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT MEETS THE LOVELY BONES as a descriptor, and I think that’s actually really an accurate comparison. I don’t think many walk into reading a thriller with a “light read” in mind but this one is a bit heavier than your usual thriller. This read deals with grief, loss, and its effects on families & communities. Due to this, you really feel you know the characters and root for them to solve the mystery. The writing is straight forward and fast paced, and the plotting was 👌🏻immaculate. The twist at the end I promise you will not see coming. Be sure to check triggers if you’re a sensitive reader, and especially if you’re one with recent loss in your life. If you’re looking for a fast paced read to get you out of a slump- this is it. I needed a thriller in my life & I can tell Jeneva Rose will be an auto read author for me from now on.
