“Any story could be a comedy or a tragedy, depending on where you ended it. That was the magic, how the same story could be told an infinite number of ways.”

Plot … had so much more potential

So, I loved this but I also didn’t love this at the same time. I’m very conflicted. The potential was there, but the ending fell very flat for me. I just felt like I kept wanting more. Objectively, the ending was fine, but the time jumps became too much for me and some parts gave me the ick.

What I loved,
- the characters and the relationships between the main character and her dad & her best friend

to be honest, I had a little trouble getting into this book at first! I’ve read Straub’s “All Adults Here” and I like her writing, but there was a lot of description for the first several chapters and I felt like I was pushing myself to get thru it. Eventually, though, the major plot point rolled around and from there on, I was absolutely captivated. devoured this book in a matter of maybe 2 hours!! I think it’s the type of book that will make me daydream about it and play the “what if” game in my head with the plot.

This heartwarming story follows father and daughter duo as they face the past, the present and until the future. Many laughs, tears, and confused head scratches as to how they needed up here.

This book actually had a really good story line. It just took forever to start. I would say the first 2/3 of the book is like 2 stars and the last 1/3 is 4.5 stars. So if you can get through the slow start it has a great end.
