A novel about coming to terms with losing someone close to you wrapped up in a 13 going on 30 style time travel story.

5 stars for the beautiful writing and creativity of this plot.

4 stars for the existential crisis and chest heaving sobs this elicited.

4.5 stars. However, I do not recommend this book to anyone because I just finished this and I am currently unwell.

“Maybe that was the trick to life. To notice all the tiny moments in the day where everything else fell away, and for a split second, or maybe even a few seconds, you had no worries. Only pleasure. Only appreciation of what was right in front of you.”

I think the cat was somehow involved in the wormhole mysteries of Pomander, not just magically never dying or getting old.

Enjoyed parts, good concept went awry for me in places

Loved the idea of it, first half was enchanting, lost it way for a while but enjoyed last few chapters. Loved Alice and her Dad, but overall if felt lonely, like a missed opportunity going back and never really getting the gist of the people in her life (besides Sam possibly). Things touched on then left without real explanation (Tommy, her dad's health) etc. Lovely relationship though and love the aspiring to continue to be in each others lives when they travel back...

Oye my heart. I loved this. Heart warming with brilliant descriptions of what it feels like to age, to lose someone, to parent, to want to see how differently things might have turned out - all the things that make us human. 4.5 rounded up, minus half a star for way too much on the silly cat and I agree with the reviewer who couldn't get over how old the cat was
