this is a perfect book to me. the progression of the story and the way the characters were slowly unraveled to reveal the bigger picture. by the end of it, i was questioning everything i read. it follows a soldier who is slowly losing his mind and you forget that he's unreliable because he's so sure of himself. although his internal dialogue makes you scoff at times, i was kinda rooting for him as well as hating him. the writing style was repetitive but it served a purpose, it made Alfa real and his trauma real. i could sympathise with him and feel for him while questioning him deeply. 10/10, no notes. warning: heavy subject matter, although it's a short book, it takes a while to sit through.
