I wanna rate it higher but I can't because the art and writing was confusing to me. It may just be my vision and the edition i got though :/ my vision is pretty bad. I couldn't understand much because I couldn't really understand the art work and the storyline going back and forth from timeliness was just confusing to me. It was okay. Will reread again when I get glasses.

"I'm not dating the 12% of you that I understand, I'm dating 100% of you. Including all your secrets that I don't know."

I loved the use of colour to differentiate between past, present and different settings, the art style is so simple yet beautiful. The characters were interesting and I liked the found family element.

If anything, I wish some aspects of the world building and characterisation were a bit more developed. I didn't feel as invested in the characters as I'd hoped and the ending wasn't entirely satisfying. However, the romance and relationships were sweet.

Overall, a lovely wee feminist, queer, Sci-fi graphic novel.

This was fantastic. Such an artistic and beautiful coming of the age story with a dash of sci-fi, romance and found family. I loved it so much. Mia’s story in the past and present. The characters are all so amazing and loveable.

This was an exhilarating read! Honestly, I only barely grasped the story, but the art style engaged me enough to keep me coming back for more.

PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT! Heartbreaking and soulful and full of lesbians in SPACE. And the fucking art? Oh my god just so incredibly beautiful.

I love this setting and the story. Found family through a job on a spaceship is really beautiful, especially because of the diverse range of people in it. Asian, Black, other poc rep, lesbians, a nonbinary character (their backstory and character arc makes me cry), plus KINDA OLD lesbians. Adult lesbians in love I am a sucker for, like they’re just two cheesy wives taking care of their kind of adopted queer kids who work with them. They for real act like the mums of the group as well as their fucking friends? Oh my fuck?

Also the ending made me cry. This whole fucking book made me cry actually

This is one of those books that will stick with you long after you’ve finished it. It’s like a Studio Ghibli movie mixed with a space western. And I’m absolutely in love with it.

I loved that this is a love story, an adventure story, and above all else it’s the story of a found family. I also loved that the characters are flawed and have their issues, but that doesn’t stop them from loving each other and sticking up for each other.  Especially against homophobes and transphobes. Elliot deserves all of the hugs in the world! Mia and Grace, Elliot and Jules, Alma and Char, all of them are just so amazing and I would love to see more of them.

On a Sunbeam is a truly immersive reading experience. I could almost see this book playing out as a movie while I was reading. I want to be wrapped up in the pages of this story forever. I’m just flabbergasted by the writing and the way that the images completely captured my attention. On a Sunbeam is getting a solid five stars. And you should definitely read it!
