There was a lot about this book that made me stop and put it down at times. It was a lot. There is something about Slaughter's writing style that pulled me back in.

Took longer than I thought it would to read this, but there was a lot to get through. Definitely could be a standalone movie someday. Surprised the series was sold to ABC. Would’ve seen this more like suitable for Prime. Also thought it was a bit ironic that a book about White supremacy was largely full of White characters. Would’ve thought this subject matter would’ve included a more diverse cast.

I really enjoyed many aspects of this book such as the pacing, the investigative sides of the story, the action and the vulnerability between the characters.

The Last Widow is an incredible read that contains a lot of heavy topics and subject matter. TW: child abuse, sexual abuse, rape, kidnapping, alt-right nazi ideology, cult.

Michelle Spivey is having a usual day out with her daughter shopping when she is abducted from the parking lot. Spivey is a scientist at the CDC, and will be a very key component to what’s to come next. Authorities are having a hard time determining why and who took her.

Will and Sara are visiting with her family when multiple bombs go off, at hospitals and other vital establishments. Due to the nature of their professions they rush off to attempt to help in any way they can. However, they end up on the scene of a traffic accident that seems suspicious. Sara ends up being kidnapped as well, and Will ends up injured.

Will is desperate to find Sara, and with help from his coworkers at GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation), and the FBI to locate Sara and Michelle, because at this point at the very least they know their kidnappings are connected.

When Will goes undercover it’s a race against time as he tries to get close and shut down the unknown far right domestic terrorist act that is in motion.

My first Karin Slaughter read. Gripping suspense novel starring GBI agent Will Trent. Heavy topics. See content warnings. Characters were enjoyable though not complex. Storyline was fast paced and gripping.

It has been a while since I dipped back into a book in the Will Trent series and despite that it felt very easy to get back into it with the familiar characters. This story starts out one way.... and I wasnt very sure where it was going, kept trying to link it to the title of the book... then that sort of makes sense towards the end, where the book is entirely not what I expected. She says this story only lasts over a few days well boy, it felt way longer than that with the amount of information our team figures out !
It was a unique and sad story with a lot of moving pieces and characters. Lots of trigger warnings as usual for a Ms Slaughter book.
