More homophobia than anything gay in this story. Don’t understand why it’s listed as lgbt+. I don’t think a side character mentioning their partner or their gay parents qualifies.

this graphic novel is okay. the art style is cool and i like the concept but it got pretty muddled for me. the characters were all pretty flat imo (but it’s so short so it’s hard to develop them so much). it was also pretty confusing at times. not my fave but still enjoyable

I really liked the art style and the 1980s setting, but I think this was just too violent for me. I'm not a huge sci-fi reader; I liked the

time travel aspect but would have preferred less of the monster/alien aspect

, which is just personal preference. I understand that the homophobia is part of the time period, but it was a little hard to read at times.

I had heard a lot of good things about this series of graphic novels, so I decided to read one. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with the book. 

The art style was cool, and I liked that it took place in the 1980s. 

The characters were really unlikable though. Also, the plot was not very good. The story jumped around and a lot of things didn’t make sense. 

The graphic novel format didn’t lend well to the story because it made the plot confusing. There was also a lot of swearing for a story about 12 year olds.

I finished the whole first volume in 1 day and now on to the 2nd one. I LOVE this series. I can tell that this series took inspiration from Stranger Things, It, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Goonies, and any other 80s action sci-fi movie with kids that you can think of. The color scheme of the art in this series is so gorgeous to look at. I love the characters (for the most part). It's awesome that these paper girls are all such a strong group of young ladies that learn to work together to take down these otherworldly mysteries terrifying their town. I love that theme is all about growing up and trying to adapt to reality. If you love Stranger Things and ET, I'd recommend reading this comic book series. It is so much fun. If you want to feel nostalgia, read this series while listening to 80s ambient music on YouTube. Trust me; it will bring the comic series to life. I can't wait to see what Vol. 2 has in-store.
