You know what would have made this book much better? If it was thought through before people started drawing it. And it would have helped if the whole first chapter wasn't spoiled by dedication on the very first page. Overall, the idea was very interesting, but there were so many just dissapointing moments. There are very clear references to abelism in the language of comic and there was just so much police brutality, which includes the boss trying to fire someone, who is out of their reach, because of a personal grudge. The main character kinda falls in love and is not able to see her past her beauty and the things she could give to him. However, ideas of cibopathics anfd saboscrivner are interesting, I wish they just landed in someone else's head, so this would have been better.
As for just mixed stuff, I thougt that the idea with someone's memory changing because they were cremated is pretty interesting and the villain was seen from the very first page he appeard in.

I loved this book. It is dark and goofy and smart. I just love the pictures and the character's speech patterns come through so clearly in the writing. The world is fleshed out and interesting. I rushed to my local comic-book store to grab book 2.
I will say, without spoiling anything, it did not age well during the pandemic, so go into it with that mindset.

If you're really worried about reading something nasty in this series, it is in there. The premise revolves around cannibalism, and it goes down-hill from there. If that's not your thing, skip it.misty_muskrat's review
