This book was a whirlwind! You get thrown right into the action and it’s really easy reading so it reads quick. Crouch writes short sentences so you fly down the page.

Overall, really liked it. The negatives were that I wish there was a little more focus on the interpersonal aspect of Jason’s life and even though it delved deeply into his marriage, there totally could’ve been more of a focus on his relationship with his kid or anyone else for that matter. Everyone else was just a really minor side character (or rather it felt that way).

On the flip side, this has some really interestingly executed and thoughtful science aspects. I can’t help but really respect how much research was clearly done in the name of the book. I’ve been waiting for a story about parallel universes that really hits for a while and I think this is it!

Not only did I appreciate the science, but I also did like the human element - that it was Jason against himself more or less the whole book, but in very different ways.

Just when I knew what was going to happen, the book would surprise me, so I liked that as well!

I do think it would’ve been great to connect to Jason a bit more though as the main character, my other gripe was that I felt distance from him in the narrative and I’m not sure why.

Anyway, overall a quick fun read that tackles really fascinating concepts in a really fresh way! I definitely see why it’s being made into a show. Would recommend!

🤯🤯🤯 my head hurts a little from trying to comprehend this. The only thing I didn't love was the science vocab but that was necessary to the story just very over my head.

I liked this book but I also hated it.

Did anyone else think it was weird how he only seemed concerned about Daniela and barely cared about his son?

3.5 ⭐️
Good concept. But nothing special. Struggled a bit to adjust to the writing style since I mainly read high fantasies and read this in between a series. Felt like there was a lot more potential. I found it a little annoying the way the plot starting going towards the end. And also felt like the later twists were somewhat unnecessary and simply overcomplicated things.
It was a good book, nothing special though.
I liked the theme of material success vs family success which really resonated with me and hence why it would be a 3.5 stars and not just a 3.
