I didn’t read it per se. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Stephen Fry. It was marvelous. Stephen Fry took my attention and ran with it with his narration. The hours went by with barely a notice.

This has some amusing bits, and I can see why people like it, but to me it read like Vogon poetry.

Given this book's reknown I expected to enjoy it. I did not. My kids and I had a good couple of laughs, and it was fun to recognize the origin of some cultural references, and the Babelfish and Ultimate Answer scenes were good, but that's a half dozen pages out of a meandering bore.

Reread one of the favorite books of my childhood; just as captivating and funny as when I read it before.

Felt a bit like a bullet point list of random Sci fi things the writer wanted to happen, so he just wrote in a very simple catch-all device, the Improbability machine, so that any time the reader feels like it makes no sense, Adam's can simply go "yes it was improbable but they have a machine for that". Had some comedic moments but overall I think Adams thinks he is smarter and funnier than he actually is.

Hilarious! This book is choke-full from cover to cover with a sarcastic, satirical, Pratchettian (or, to be chronologically pedantic, Adamsian. Prachett is obviously influenced by Adams) brand of comedy. That alone is enough to make me want to read the whole series. Prepare to suffer from a deadly case of giggling and shameless cackling in public places. Probably better to be read in private, away from people with quick judgmental tendencies. Probably not suited for digital watch users.

I'm sorry. Many of my friends love this book, but I can't read this. Perhaps it's dated. Perhaps it's due to a bad experience I had in college. TLDR
