DID NOT FINISH

DNF. No idea how this has so many high reviews. I got 25% through and so far it's been the same three things hashed and re-hashed, over and over again. How many times do we need the same pieces of information fed to us? The writing is boring and the mystery itself is standard fare, nothing memorable.
slow-paced

Curse my inability to let myself have a DNF when I am behind on my reading goal. Honk shoo!

I'm tremendously impressed with Donlea's ability to craft an incredibly compelling & genuinely surprising narrative that I didn't predict at any point. Very new to his work, but looking forward to diving in headfirst.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix

More like 2.5 stars. I thought the murder mystery part of the story was very predictable. I knew who actually killed everyone from the start. The ending didn’t sit right with me, so the last 30 pages were annoying to get through. I thought it was stupid to kill off the main character because it lacked closure on the documentary she was making.

It was a pretty easy read with a couple slow sections, but I was hoping for something really thrilling. This wasn’t it.

I needed another thriller and this delivered. A true crime case, but a documentary? Gave me like Amanda Knox vibes. as a crime junkie, i devoured this. I definitely didn't think the killer was who he was, and I am looking forward to reading more from this author

I was not impressed. I finished it because it caught my attention enough to make me want to know what happened next but overall found the ending rushed and abrupt and the characters under developed.
