I listened to the audiobook of this and it was pretty good. Filled with lots of twists and turns. It was pretty long but then felt a bit rushed at the end. Overall it was a good psychological thriller with some cheesy writing at times.

- Tropes/themes:
- Dual POV/timeline
- Unreliable narrator
- Missing person
- Survivor’s guilt
- Manipulation
- Incredibly gripping and engaging.
- So many chapters ended in the craziest cliffhangers.
- There was one scene in particular where I was actually scared reading it at night.
- Constantly kept me guessing and sent me on such a roller coaster of a ride- back and forth changing my mind about how I thought it would play out.
- Halfway through, I had literally no idea how it was possible for the two POVs to connect.
- Ultimately, I ended up predicting one of the main pieces, and that always takes away just a bit from the impact of the reveal, but major props to the author for how many red herrings there were- she did a phenomenal job keeping me on my toes.
- Twisty, suspenseful, and a psychological mindfuck.

This was a solid 4 until the last 15%. It kinda went way off track and whereas I couldn’t put the book down for the first 85%, I found my thoughts wandering and just not into it.
I really also wanted an extra chapter from Elinor’s POV, it just didn’t wrap up right.
Thanks to HambrightPR and Kensington books for my physical arc.

man was i psychologically challenged
i was so excited when i received this arc after reading the summary. a missing daughter all the sudden comes back after 16 years……sign me up!
i started reading my physical arc and then also listened to the audiobook and it was fantastic.
i was thinking this whole book and didn’t know who to believe.
the only reason why this wasn’t 5⭐️ is because one of my feelings about one of the characters was right so i wasn’t shocked which is what i want from a thriller but i had a great time anyway

This is a lot to like and dislike about this book. I didn't guess the plot twist at the end, it surprises me because it was basically slapping me in the face and I missed it, so kudos to Dandy Smith on that one.
We have two sisters, Olivia and Catie. At ages 13 & 10 they are left home alone while their parents attend a dinner party and Olivia is kidnapped. Catie sees the whole things. For the next 16 years she is living the safe life to help ease her parents anxiety as much as possible. She is existing, but she isn't really living.
Now Olivia is back, and it is weird. At first everyone understands Olivia's desire to not talk about her kidnapping and captivity, or even her escape. As time moves along, Catie is the only one who has her doubts that this person is not her sister. As she spirals she is painted as a crazy person, and it isn't pretty at all.
As all of this is happening we have a second POV in a timeline unknown to us, but it feels like it was in the past, I can't explain it without giving spoilers but it feels older. We have Elinor and her brother Heath who are 17 & 20 living in the manor house they are due to inherit when Heath turns 21. In the meantime their uncle Robert is holding all the ownership and their money. Their parents died years before and they are at the mercy of this man who is not a likeable person.
You don't know how these stories will intertwine until over 80% into the book, and when it does happen, so many things make more sense.
What I disliked about this book was the pace, parts of it were incredibly slow, especially Elinor's story. Also the metaphor writing, OMG soooo many metaphors! it was unnecessary. At first they didn't bother me, maybe because I listened to this book so quickly they all just jumped out at me, but holy hell, you couldn't make it through a chapter without a minimum of 2-3, it was overkill.
Overall I was entertained and I wanted to know who was Olivia, what happened to her 16 years ago and was Catie going to make it out of this story with any sort of happy ending for her life. Enjoyable quick read.

A twisty suspense book that could get over the top at times. The main character was a bit foolish and walked straight into traps so often that it felt like I was rolling my eyes constantly by the end. The author also LOVES a metaphor, sometimes it was sentence after sentence of 'questions swam inside me like frenzied hornets' or 'I chew on my anger like lemon pips'...it became a bit of a distraction. But it was fine, didn't love it didn't hate it!

Zero stars! Why is this book called “The Wrong Daughter”?? Where were all the twists and the promises of leaving readers floored at the end of every chapter?? Why does one review state “a truly fantastic major twist at the end”?? This book is utterly predictable and a complete waste of time. Not a psychological thriller in any way, shape or form whatsoever. Zero stars. Do not recommend.
