TOG and FBAA

The love child of TOG and FBAA. A fun read, moderately predictable but still really enjoyable. The twists are twisty and the love interest is great, but all I thought of the whole time is Throne of Glass.

Following Death’s Maiden, an orphan assassin in the mortal capital, as she tries to uncover the mystery of the missing children Lady of Darkness is a true epic fantasy romance series. I was hooked to this series from the first book and couldn’t put it down. I scrapped all my reading plans to continue with Lady of Darkness until the very last page, and even after that I wanted more. At times it does feel like it is taking from other well known fae romances but over the books the characters and the world becomes so much it’s own.

DNF, I trudged on, but I just could not finish it. The Lead female is so volatile, deadly, weak, childish, and can't think for herself. It was just wrong. I'm not recommending it at all.

The absolute rollercoaster of EMOTIONS I felt while reading this book was entirely uncalled for and I am here for it.

Did this series just become my newest obsession? Yes, yes it did.
Scarlett was So hard to like. She was definitely giving "NESTA" with all her feminine rage energy, but the more you learn about her story, the more you come to understand exactly why she is so broken. I have NEVER felt so hard for a character - WELL DONE.

The romance? Oh, baby. While this is NOT a spicy book AT ALL - the push-and-pull chemistry between the MCs was just divine! The MMC was GIVING Consent Daddy and I am 100% here for it!

If you liked ACOTAR, FBAA, and The Serpent and the Wings of Night - READ THIS SERIES!

I don't care for the female lead too much, but I enjoy the rest of the characters.

I do absolutely love the portrayal of trauma and panic/anxiety attacks. I had to pace myself because it triggered my anxiety, and to me that makes it excellent writing.

it doesn't feel realistic that you have these super stealthy characters doing amazing feats one minute then happenly captured in the next? Hoping the next book helps explain it.

Going to dnf for now.  Main character is annoying and I wanted more cold badass assassin and not ragey teenager assassin with giant questionmark.

The poor communication between the two main characters drove me crazy. It felt like every other page was them asking each other to answer questions they refused to.
