I loved this book! In fact, this was the last book I remember enjoying before I hit my devastating slump. I wish I had more of this author's books!

(Try a Chapter) DNF at 4% (page 12). I just can’t get into it and I find it hard to stay focused on what’s going on. Or finding it hard to care what happens.

✨ Review ✨

Just finished this gem: The Forgotten Book by Mechthild Gläser.

I loved this book so much! It’s a cute fantasy YA novel inspired by Jane Austens Pride and Prejudice and Emma.

The story is set at a castle in Germany. I’m a sucker for anything historical, so this already drew me into the story as soon as I started reading it.

The story itself is about this girl -Emma- that finds a book with magical powers. Not only the magical aspect was quite interesting, I also really enjoyed the cute young enemies-to-lovers romance between Emma and Darcy ( you see, very inspired by Jane Austen

An incredibly unique story that absorbs the reader.
Reminded me a lot of Sharon Cameron but in a more contemporary tone.
There were quite a few LOL scenes which hardly ever happens when I am reading. Loved this.
The cover to this is amazing.
I don't especially love the title but I guess it's fitting.
Each character was unique and fit in extremely well with the whole story line.
I look forward to reading more by this author.

Oh my God, this was so entertaining!
This is a (another) modern take on Pride and Prejudice but this story adds a magical realism storyline.

Emma wants to use the old, abandoned school library to form a club with her friends. Her father is high up in the school’s administration, so her request is easily approved.

She finds a magical book in the library. Thankfully she finds it before Darcy shows up and demands that she stop using the library. His family owns the castle where the school is, so his word is final.

At first, Emma is just trying to get her library back. But soon she realizes that there’s something strange about the book she found. It reads like a diary but when she adds a note herself, she realizes that writing in the book actually makes events happen.

She gets a little power hungry for a bit but then realizes the diary might hold the key to Darcy’s sister’s disappearance four years earlier. The more she reads, the more she learns about a mysterious faun creature.

This book was quite exciting. It hit a good stride and the action did not slow down until a nice resolution was reached at the end.

I very much enjoyed this. I definitely have to read The Book Jumper now!

The Forgotten Book was nice little escape back to high school days with a mix of fairy tales and mystery.
