Took half the book for the action to start and by then I couldn't care less. The romance was sweet, especially the flashbacks, but I just wasn't into it because nothing else was going on.

Second chance romance- sci/fi. It needs to have a trigger warning with the mentions of assault and d.v.. dont care much for the black characters stereotypical langauge. It was a bit cringe. The story/plot was consistent and I am interested in reading the second book of the series.

Obsessed.

33 pages in and I already loved Des. The way Laura Thalassa writes is captivating

I listened to the audiobook and read the physical copy. I absolutely loved this book! From the beginning, I loved The Bargainer - Des -, he made all the red flags stand up for me, but those red flags turned into green flags for me throughout the book. 🖤 I loved Callie, the banter between her and Des was good, but I did wish there was more spice because I felt like I kept getting teased 🥵😂 I HATED Eli but I appreciated him towards the middle. I also liked the villain but it felt rushed towards the end, but that EPILOGUE 🤯 made me choke on my words because now I know we’ll be getting more! & Finally, I didn’t like the audiobook, I wish I would’ve gotten a woman and a man to read the different parts, rather than just one person.

This was a strong 2 star book. I did finish it quite fast - the spin on our world was intriguing and I wanted to see what happened. However, the writing was not very good and was especially bad at repeating words. Things along the lines of “the hot soup was hot.” The main character was a bit too perfect for the amount of trauma she endured, and the book romanticized her trauma way too much. The spice was pretty good, I have to say. And the main love interest is a very interesting character that I want to hear more about. I just wish it was with a different main character.
