Sutton is a traveling nurse and single mom to a 16 year old daughter. She is making a big move from Atlanta to a small town in Maine. Her daughter is upset from all of the moving so Sutton gives her some time alone at the hotel and goes down to the bar. When she attracts the attention of a creep, she finds the tallest, grumpiest guy she can and kisses him.
Atlas is a 6'6 tall, muscled giant of a grump. When Sutton kisses him and tells him to play along because of a creep, he immediately feels protective of her. They also have an undeniable chemistry. They agree to a one night stand (or one hour stand) and it is

There are few things I love more than a good grump… and whew, did Atlas Steele deliver. Former football star, current brooding coach, and now proudly holding the title of my favorite male main character—yes, I said it. The man growled and glared his way into my heart, and I was so here for it.
Brighton Walsh masterfully balances the heat and heart in this story, blending witty banter, small-town chaos, and tender emotional beats that hit just right. Sutton was a breath of fresh air—strong, independent, and the kind of mom you want in your corner. And her daughter, Laurel? Absolute scene-stealer. Their mother-daughter bond was so genuine, and watching Atlas slowly become wrapped around Laurel’s little finger was the emotional payoff I didn’t know I needed.
The town of Starlight Cove felt like a character all on its own, with vibrant personalities that added charm without hijacking the spotlight. I loved how Brighton built this world in a way that makes you want to move in, gossip with the locals, and fall in love with a grump next door of your own.
This book had me smiling, swooning, and occasionally screaming into a pillow. If you’re into slow-burn tension, lovable single moms, football hotties who are secretly soft, and small-town settings that feel like home—The Grump Next Door is your next favorite read.
Brighton Walsh, consider me hooked. I’ll take the entire Steele brother lineup, please and thank you.

This was so fun via audio, I’m always down to read anything narrated by Jason Clarke and damn did he bring Atlas to life!!
I love myself a tall man
Didn’t expect Atlas to be freaky like that. Seriously he gave Sutton like 10+ orgasms a night.
Seriously tho where do I find a man like that???
his relationship with Suttons daughter was everything!
The baby kitty Pandora too, I’m obsessed!

Honestly, I thought I loved this book the first time I read it but hearing Atlas’ growls and dirty talk in duet?! WHEW! I was not ready for all the squealing I would be doing in the car and trying to hide the gasps I made at work. The audiobook just really brings this AMAZING book to life.
