This book remarkably only spans a couple of days, so I would say that it's relatively low paced, especially compared to some other Percy Jackson books.

We bid farewell to Piper and head to New Rome. And upon arrival break everyone’s’ hearts. New Rome has already been attacked and faced losses, of the legion as well as the town. And another round is coming. Flesh eating zombies, anyone?
I love Frank and Hazel. Spending time with them is good. Even if it gets a bit scary at the end. And Apollo/Lester finds himself willing to sacrifice himself (a couple of times!) for his friends – and that, friends, shows growth. Even if he’s still kind of annoying.
I still stand firm these books could’ve been better with more likeable main characters, but I guess that’s kind of the point. Not my favorite of Rick’s, and I don’t read or listen as often, but they’re still good.
