Loved experiencing the same sequence of up and down emotions as during Pride and Prejudice - but this time set in a world I could much more easily relate to (and laugh at).

Some of the language in this book bothered me. Is it set in modern day Ohio or during Georgian era England? I overlooked these all-too-frequent uses which just didn't quite fit in. I enjoyed reading this refreshed version as I enjoyed reading the original P&P. I liked the update and thought the story telling was well done. A nice read to kick off the summer!

This popped up in my library feed. I read it a while ago and couldn't remember the details so I decided to read it again. A pandemic comfort read.
It's an enjoyable retelling of P&P. Mrs Bennet, however, is probably at her most exasperating. Wow, she's annoying.

Well that was a waste. I like retellings/reimagining in general; this was just bad.
The narrator was annoying, alternating between terrible "character voices" and a sort of affected accent that didn't fit, so if you ever do try this don't listen to the audiobook.
The story itself tried too hard to update to the 21st century, both with the language with which the characters spoke and with the cultural references. I also didn't appreciate the hyper-sexualization of literally every relationship.
Don't waste your time on this.

I loved this book. The characters were hilarious and the pages went quickly. Clearly the story is "timeless" because of how effortlessly the author was able to modernize it.
