You Should Have Left is another example of my favorite trope of "Was this door here earlier? I could've sworn there wasn't anything down this way." Kehlmann has such a poetic prose that is very enjoyable to read through. The descriptions in this book are delicious, and it is such a short read. If you're in a reading slump, give this book a try. Definitely one you can read in one sitting.

You Should Have Left took me around 55 minutes to read.

great book to read with some spooky piano music going in the background. i was a little confused in the beginning with the chapters/thoughts unfinished until i realize it is meant to be read as a journal. liked the concept, didn’t love the characters. why did he have to stay?
