Prince Veera and his dear friend, the farmer's son, Suku return to share with us more tales from India. This short collection contains four stories that cover greed and injustice and it is for the two boys to solve the problems within their community and sometimes overrule the king himself.

As a lover of traditional tales, I particularly enjoyed the nods to older stories here and how Soundar has weave older narratives into her own setting. A strong sense of food permeates the stories and I wanted to know more about these (through tasting, obviously). The stories are very well told and, as with all traditional tales, the narrative is pared back to focus on action and choice as well as reflection. A lovely addition to any classroom and one to read independently or aloud to a class.
